There are many sizes of wine coolers, alternatively referred to as wine refrigerators, on the market. Some smaller wine coolers hold six bottles of wine while other larger wine cooler models hold fifty or more wine bottles. Six bottle wine cooler units can sit nicely on your kitchen, bar or utility space counter top while larger wine cooler bottle models will need adequate floor space or be built into cabinet space.
How much wine do you need chilled and ready for drinking? Remember, a wine cooler is a shorter to medium term wine storage appliance. One easy way to estimate the wine cooler size that you need is to keep track of how much wine you drink in a month and multiply that amount by twelve. Four bottles of wine consumed a month means a minimum forty eight bottle wine cooler capacity.
If you entertain regularly, and thus need multiple bottles of wine simultaneously ready for consumption, you will appreciate a larger wine cooler. A rule of thumb for estimating group wine consumption is two people per each wine bottle. Thus, if you are entertaining forty people you need to be able to chill twenty bottles of wine at a time, plus have additional room for your future, personal wine storage and consumption.
